RAM stands for Random Access Memory. ( The picture on the right)
RAM is memory that you are using at that time. The memory can be stored here until stored elsewhere. It helps to speed up your computers performance. RAM memory will be lost once the device is shut down unless you save it beforehand.
ROM stands for Read Only Memory. (The picture on the left)
ROM is memory that can be stored after the computer is turned off and can be read and written on, however memory on this drive cannot be erased.
A computer comes with ROM and typically a person does not choose the type of ROM that comes with the machine, as this is selected by the manufacturer.
